Introduction
Pageo ("we," "our," or "the app") is an iOS application designed to let you read e-books. We respect your privacy and are committed to being transparent about how the app handles your data.
Information We Collect
Information Stored Locally on Your Device
Pageo stores the following data locally on your device to provide its core functionality:
- Book files — E-book files you import, sync from Calibre, or purchase through the app.
- Reading preferences — Your chosen font size, line spacing, theme, and other display settings.
- Reading progress — Your current position in each book, so you can pick up where you left off.
- Library data — Book metadata such as titles, authors, and series information.
- App preferences — Settings such as whether the sync guide banner has been dismissed.
This data is stored entirely on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Network Connections
Pageo connects to your local network for the purpose of syncing with the Calibre Content Server running on your computer. This communication happens directly between your device and your Calibre server over your local Wi-Fi network. We do not operate any intermediary servers and do not intercept, collect, or store any data exchanged during this process.
Text-to-Speech (Listening)
Pageo can read books aloud using a synthetic voice. All speech is generated on your device. The text of your books is never uploaded, transmitted, or processed on any server, and is not sent to any third party for this purpose.
The first time you use listening, the app downloads the speech data it needs (approximately 145 MB) from Apple's servers, in the same way it downloads the app itself. This download contains no information about you, your library, or what you are reading. The data is then stored on your device and is removed if you delete the app.
Advertising
Pageo may display ads provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use certain data to serve ads, including device identifiers, IP address, and general usage information. AdMob may also use this data to serve personalized ads based on your interests, unless you have opted out of ad personalization in your device settings.

Third-Party E-Book Purchases
Pageo may offer the ability to browse and purchase e-books from third-party partners directly within the app. When you choose to make a purchase or interact with a third-party bookstore, you may be directed to that partner's platform or checkout process. Any personal information you provide during a purchase — such as your name, email, or payment details — is collected and processed by the third-party partner, not by Pageo. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party partner before completing a purchase.
We may receive limited, non-personal information from partners related to completed transactions (such as confirmation that a book was delivered to your library), but we do not receive or store your payment information.
Analytics and Diagnostics
We use analytics services (including Google Firebase and Amplitude) to collect usage and diagnostic information, such as app launch frequency, feature usage patterns, crash reports, and — for users who arrive via our advertisements — install attribution data. This information is not used to identify you personally.
Subscription Information
If you subscribe to Pageo Pro, your purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID. We receive only the information necessary to verify your subscription status and provide access to Pro features.
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or other personal contact information through the app itself.
- We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or location.
- We do not read, analyze, or store the content of your books on any server.
- We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.
- We do not read, analyze, or store the content of your books on any server, including when the app reads them aloud.
Data Storage and Security
All of your books, reading progress, and preferences are stored locally on your device within the app's sandboxed storage. If you delete the app, this data will be removed from your device.
If you use iCloud backup, your Pageo data may be included as part of your standard device backup according to your iCloud settings. This is managed by Apple and subject to Apple's privacy policy.
Third-Party Services
Pageo integrates with or may integrate with the following third-party services:
Apple App Store — For app distribution, in-app purchases, and hosting the downloadable speech data used by the listening feature.
Google AdMob — For serving advertisements. AdMob may collect device and usage data as described above. You can review Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) — For crash reporting and aggregated app usage measurement, including install and conversion measurement for our advertising campaigns. Firebase may collect device identifiers, crash data, and app interaction data. Amplitude — For product analytics that help us understand how the app's features are used and improve the experience. This data is processed on servers located in the European Union and does not include the content of your books. You can review Amplitude's privacy policy at https://amplitude.com/privacy.
RevenueCat — For subscription management. RevenueCat processes anonymized subscription data. You can review their privacy policy at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy.
Third-party e-book partners — For browsing and purchasing e-books. Each partner operates under their own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review before making a purchase.
Your Choices
- Ad personalization — You can opt out of personalized ads by adjusting your device's privacy settings or by visiting [https://adssettings.google.com](https://adssettings.google.com).
- Third-party purchases — Interacting with third-party bookstores within the app is entirely optional.
- App data — You can delete all locally stored data at any time by deleting the app from your device.
Children's Privacy
Pageo does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The app does not require an account or any personal information to use. Ads displayed to users are subject to Google AdMob's policies regarding children's content.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
